T.H.U.G. M.A.F.I.A

Southern hip hop duo T.H.U.G. M.A.F.I.A. (The hardworking underestimated geniuses making all finances in appropriate ways), is based in East Point, Georgia consisting of Rockford, Illinois native Benjamin “Death-Trap” Gulley and Atlanta, Georgia native Kevia “K-Steel” Stills who met in April 1999. The two would later form a group in Atlanta in late 2001, performing at local clubs and major music venues in and around The Swats ( South West Atlanta).

The groups music style consists of Gangsta Funk aka G-Funk, a sound that emerged on the West Coast in the early 90’s using melodic synthesizers, the sampling of 70’s, 80’s & 90’s RnB tracks, & the use of heavy bass. The groups music style also incorporates turntablism, after being influenced by Turntablist such as Houston Legend DJ Screw, DJ Yella of NWA, DJ Battlecat & The Unknown DJ linked to Comptons Most Wanted. The group was highly influenced by Artists such as: Zapp and Roger, George Clinton, The Whispers, Cameo, Eazy-E, NWA, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, 2PAC, BIGGIE, DJ Quik, DJ Screw, MC EIHT, Spice 1, UGK, The Geto Boys, Scarface, Willie Dee, The Dayton Family, The Dungeon Family, Ghetto Mafia, DPG, Dangerous Crew, C-Bo, Dru Down, Rappin 4-Tay, Fat Pat, Hawk, Lil Keke, Twista, & Bone THUGZ N HARMONY. The duo originally worked under the name “K-Steel & Death Trap” before using their registered trademark name T.H.U.G. M.A.F.I.A. which would be used on their first single “G-Funk Ova Crunk” a song that was released later off their debut album entitled “Eternal Thuggin” released in 2011. The album also features their most well known track entitled “Midnite Creep” in which the group flew out to Southern California & shot a video for it. The group would later disband shortly after the release of Eternal Thuggin due to a fallen out. The Duo would return years later after ending their feud to work on a new project called “Fate & Consequencez”. The first single from the new album entitled “Raw” which was produced by Death Trap was released in late 2019.

The group planned a release for Fate & Consequencez in early 2020 but due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, the album would be pushed back to a later date after social distancing became enforced in which performances at public gatherings would no longer be permissible. The new release date for Fate & Consequencez is T.B.A. soon.
